Phumlani offered a years Internship

By September 17, 2021No Comments

Phumlani joined our Outreach program in September 2015.  After visiting our centre and participating in our programs for a period of time, in February 2017 he joined our 3-month in-house Rehabilitation Program.  Unfortunately his withdrawals were too much for him and he absconded.

In Jan 2017 he returned to our Drop in Centre and re-entered our Rehabilitation program in February 2017.  Upon completion of the rehabilitation program he was reunified with his family, and placed on our After Care program.  I Care enrolled him in school, and equipped him with a school uniform, and the required stationery.  Monthly home and school visits were carried out, ensuring that Phumlani was on the right track and was coping with his school work.

Phumlani applied himself so diligently, and in 2021 he passed his final year of schooling (Matric / Grade 12) with a Bachelors Pass.

Still on our After Care program, we offered him a choice of certain Tertiary or Skills Training.  He chose to do a Wholesale and Retail Learnership at Hibiscus College.  He did so well there and has now been offered a year’s internship at a Spar Shop in their butchery department, including a stipend covering transport and food costs.

Well done Phumlani – I Care are so proud of you!!!
