From our GM
Reflecting on the year 2020 we can call it an abundantly blessed but challenging year, with a twist of course. Covid19 has taught us many lessons and a new way of being ‘normal’ and the staff and young men, who we work with, have adapted amazingly. We had some opportunities to replenish our tired resources, meet new partners and build a reserve for what was to be a future year of unknown, in the very true sense of the word. Our Faith, in the Hope we have, gave us the strength to, in turn, give Hope to our beneficiaries. The I Care Staff have been shining lights in the lives of the boys they’ve worked with and impacts are evident. What’s New A new venture and collaboration between Jump Youth Mission (JYM) and I Care began with our first intake being our Sakhimpilo group 6. We assisted JYM to complete a dormitory block with showers and toilets and then furnished the room for the intake of 10 young men. JYM’s mission is to ‘Give Hope to the Hopeless’ and is a community based organisation working with the broken and addicted. We have joined The Seed of Hope as a partner and have moved our under 18’s rehabilitation program to their fantastic premises. Seed of Hope is a community based organisation who work at restoring community through restored individuals, equipping them to overcome challenges and create a promising future. We are very excited about the two houses we will be occupying from December 2020 and cannot wait for the renovations to be completed. We have some very generous contractors assisting us to restore the houses after they had been badly vandalised in the past. Our Projects We continue to attribute our success to our holistic tailor-made I Care Cycle, which provides for every aspect of the Child/Youth’s needs: We have a long lasting, sustainable impact – solving tomorrow’s problems, not just todays We give grateful thanks to all who made 2020 a little easier and we are so heart-filled by the generosity shown during lockdown.
