A warm greeting to all our friends of         I Care

It is quite hard to believe that it is the end of 2021.  In some ways this challenging year feels like it has gone on forever, and in others, one cannot believe that Christmas is right here.

Who would have thought we would be in the middle of the fourth wave of Covid?  One thing that Covid has taught us, is to be resilient.  Through all the challenges of 2021, I Care, with your support,  have continued to transform the lives of many children in our city.  We have had plenty success stories, and a first!! One of the I Care boys has graduated with his BSc Social Science Degree!  I Care are so proud of  his efforts and perseverance.  We have had boys graduate with Diplomas from their tertiary education as well as a boy writing matric.  Younger boys are giving it their all at school, and that being under trying circumstances with Covid - it is here that the houseparents have stepped in, gone the extra mile, and become their stand in teachers.
All the I Care staff have stood together during the course of the year and focussed on the well being of the children.

This is just a short Newsletter to wish all our Friends a very Blessed Christmas and a safe, healthy and happy 2022.  We do pray that you and yours are keeping safe during these uncertain times.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all our wonderful and generous donors and volunteers.  Without you our task would not be possible.

In January our drop in centre in Greyville (The Hope Centre), relocated to Churchill Road, Windermere.  In no time the boys and staff were settled and very happy in their new "home".

We have continued to remain vigilant with our social distancing and sanitizing, and are seeing approximately 10 boys a day, providing them with all their basic needs:  warm showers, 2 cooked meals, medical requirements, programs, and psycho-social interventions with our in-house social workers.  This is all in preparation of the boys entering our Rehabilitation Program.  We have registered more than 100 boys who have visited  our drop in centre this year.

We currently have 27 children in our 3        I Care family homes in Lower Illovo, with their 6 house parents.  We once again salute the houseparents and children for keeping their spirits so high during this crazy year.  The boys have continued to do their best at school and have shown true resilience during these trying times.

The I Care Rehabilitation Program has settled well at Seed of Hope in Malagazi, Amanzimtoti.  
Our older youth continue with their Sakhimpilo Program at Jump Youth Mission in Buffelsdraai.    Once they have completed the Sakhimpilo Course, which includes a Life Skills and a Job Preparation Course - they then complete their Skills Training Course.  Thank you to Kevin and Valerie for being such amazing mentors to these boys.

10 young men have graduated with a Certified Skills Course.  Well done Boys!! I Care are so proud of you and your achievements.

Once completed, we assist them in finding internships, and help them to get on their feet.
