On Wednesday, December 8 the I Care Christian School held a prize-giving ceremony for the boys. Each child received a certificate and a trophy recognising their achievements throughout the year. Aimable Bandandaza, one of the teachers, gave a speech acknowledging all the role players involved in the school, thanking them for their hard work. He also talked of the school’s highlights for 2010. Pastor Eric then gave an address. He and his wife, Nonhlanhla are leaving I Care to study in Cape Town. We shall miss them but we wish them all the best for their future.
Lona, Lorna and Juliette from the Umuzi Board gave each child a soccer ball and a carry bag and the staff were presented with thank you gifts and praised for their work with the children. Llona said how proud the Board were to be associated with I Care.
After this the boys recited poetry, sang, danced and performed a modern rendition of the Parable of the Good Samaritan, using the football teams – Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates as examples. After a light lunch a great afternoon was spent with the boys and their families.
Congratulations go to all the staff at ICCS for their efforts over the past year and for a memorable day.
